The Glenlivet Distillery is the only Scottish distillery allowed to call itself THE Glenlivet and has done since 1880 due to other distilleries calling their whisky Glenlivet even though they were not situated in ‘the glen’. The water for this distillery is taken from Josies Well which is a local spring near the distillery. This distillery was founded in 1824 completed in 1858, it currently produces 10,200,000 litres of whisky every year and most of that goes into 6,000,000 bottles of The Glenlivet Single Malt which is Americas largest selling single malt. The rest of the whisky produced is used on owners Pernod Ricard’s blended whiskies. The name The Glenlivet is one of the most renowned whiskies in the world. There are a huge range of bottlings and the rarer ones end up in auction and are a big choice for collectors.

The Glenlivet distillery were one of the first to use French oak casks to mature whisky. They have mastered this technique and deliver their expertise in this 15 year old expression. The French oak delivers a rich exotic character to this single malt that is distinctive and elegant. Limousin oak is used which is cut in France’s Dordogne region, where the oak is often used to mature cognac. The Limousin oak has a low density which allows whisky to sink deep into the wood. When carefully controlled over time the result give a unique, pleasing spiciness.
