The GlenDronach Distillery was founded in 1826 and is located in Aberdeenshire very close to Huntly. It is well known for producing high quality Sherry matured whisky and is currently owned by Brown-Forman. GlenDronach Batch 19 consists of 12 single casks which only a few have made it to Australia. The range consists of whisky spanning a different range of ages and vinatges all selected by Master Distiller Dr. Rachel Barrie. Using either ex Oloroso Sherry, ex Pedro Ximenez Sherry or ex Port barrels and bottled at their natural cask strengths in a range of between 48% and 61.9% ABV.

Sherry Butt, 475 Litres. Sherry Butts are the most commonly used type of cask in the sherry industry, and thus, apart from those having previously held bourbon, the type of cask most commonly utilised for maturing Scotch whisky. They are traditionally made from Spanish oak, although a significant amount of butts are also made from American white oak.

This GlenDronach single cask from batch 19 has been distilled in 1992 and left for 28 years to mature in one ex-Oloroso Sherry Puncheon. Only 657 bottles worldwide were produced. If you’re a GlenDronach fan then this one is not to be missed, check out these tasting notes.
