The Glen Elgin Distillery is situated in the heart of Speyside approximately 3 miles south of Elgin. This distillery was the last distillery to be built during the boom years of the 1890s. The architect, Charles Doig, stated it would be the last one built in Speyside for 50 years. His prediction was remarkably accurate with Tormore being the next distillery built, in 1958. The original site was chosen for its water source and close proximity to the railway line. Unfortunately the water source proved unreliable and permission for a railway siding was refused. Until the 1950s the distillery was entirely operated and lit by paraffin. All machinery was driven by a paraffin engine and a water turbine.

Adelphi exist to identify the very small number of casks that have produced the ultimate whiskies. The criteria for selection include rarity and maturity, but above all flavour. These whiskies are both rare and sought-after – these very special casks are so rare that, on average, Adelphi accepts a mere 4% that it is offered. Each single cask of whisky matures its contents very differently, imparting its own character to the whisky it holds and, as a result, there are never two Adelphi’s quite the same.

Bottled as part of the Laudale Range of whiskies by Adelphi this whisky has spent its life maturing in sherry barrels. With a rather small outturn of only 1446 bottles for worldwide consumption and bottled at 46% abv. It was distilled at the Glen Elgin Distillery in Speyside, Scotland.

Laudale is a river and an Estate on the West Coast of Scotland near Glenborrodale and the Ardnamurchan Distillery.
