The Blair Athol Distillery is located near Pitlochry in the Highlands of Scotland. Blair Athol was originally the estate village of the picturesque Blair Castle, at whose gates the distillery now stands. The distillery was licensed in 1825, on the site of an older distillery, and was purchased by Arthur Bell and Sons in 1933. Since then the distillery was purchased by the Guinness Group in 1985. Running 4 stills, the distillery produces approximately 2,300,000 litres annually.

North Star Spirits is an independent bottler based in Glasgow, Scotland. They pride themselves on bottling the finest single malt Scotch whisky, blended whisky and blended malt Scotch whisky. Producing artisan single cask whisky from various regions of Scotland as well as bottling rums, gins and Bourbon whiskey. All products are small batch, bottled at cask strength.

This North Star bottling was distilled at the Blair Athol Distillery in September 2006. It was initially matured in arefill Hogshead before being transferred to a single ex Mezcal cask for a 19 months. Bottled as part of the Cask Series 16 only 196 bottles were produced with a much smaller amount making it to Australia. Bottled at 49% abv.

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Fruit and nut bar, creamy vanilla with some dark caramel.

Palate: Floral notes of freshly cut grass and freshly cut lemons, waxy mouthfeel.

Finish: Toasted chestnuts, burnt orange peel and garden herbs.
