The Port Askaig range is brought to us by Specialty Drinks Limited who were responsible for the Elements of Islay independently bottled range brought to Australia a few years back. The single malt is produced at an undisclosed distillery however there is plenty of discussion that this is whisky from Caol Ila distillery on Islay.
This whisky is a limited release from the chaps at Elixir Distillers. A whisky that has been distilled at the Caol Ila distillery on the 25th of January 2011 and bottled on the 17th of December 2021. It has been fully matured in a Sherry Butt number 301630 for no less than 10 years. Bottled at 48% ABV and boasts Starwberry jam, vanilla and smoke with a peppery spice.
Our Tasting Notes
Nose: Baked apples, ash, peat smoke and hints of vanilla and macerated strawberries.
Palate: Bursting with orchard fruits, summer berries, creamy vanilla and peppery spice.
Finish: Long with less fruit, honey sweetness, hints of leather and red berries and more warming peat smoke.
