Mumm Millésimé 2013 is a vintage champagne of magnificent complexity and prestige. The finesse and freshness of the Chardonnay brings an elegant but discreet touch to this wine, tempering the power and structure of the Pinot Noir, while continuing to gently express itself.

Made with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes harvested from the best Grand Cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims (Ambonnay, Mailly, Bouzy, Verzy, and Mareuil-sur-Ay) and the Côte des Blancs (Oger, Avize, Cramant) regions of France, Mumm Millésimé 2013 is a cuvée which has already been aged for several years in cellars, with magnificent aging potential.

Tasting Notes:
The wine’s yellow robe is highlighted with glints of golden reflections. A supremely light and elegant vintage, the wine opens with lush aromas of fresh white and stone fruits – a hint of pear is perceptible. Alluring floral notes give way to delicious nuances of brioche, fresh-churned butter and fresh hazelnuts.

A sensation of great freshness, displaying flavours of peach and greengage plum. The wine shows elegant balance, delighting with its long finish and a lively finale that hints at pastry and buttery brioche.

2013 vintage:
After an exceptionally cool spring, the summer was hot, sunny and stormy. Late flowering in July pushed the harvest back to October. Happily, the grapes were healthy and showed perfect maturity.

The Mumm 2013 Vintage is characterized by incredibly rich aromas that are expressed in the elegant, generous notes bestowed by Pinot Noir. It is a reflection of the outstanding craftsmanship of the Mumm Champagne House and reveals the very essence of its signature grape variety.

This champagne is the fruit of an exceptional harvest marked by the challenging weather of 2013. A blend of the finest grapes grown primarily in Grand Cru villages (Ambonnay, Mailly, Bouzy, Verzy) and Premier Cru villages (Mareuil-sur-Ay), this rare cuvée reveals the full complexity of its aromatic profile after five years of aging in the House’s cellars.

Background Information:
The story of Maison Mumm is one of legendary terroirs and of a bold, distinctive grape: Pinot Noir.
With its power and rich, elegant fruit, the black grape takes pride of place in the House’s classic blends, to which Chardonnay and Meunier grapes add their inimitable floral and fruity notes.

Maison Mumm’s first recorded vintage champagne was bottled in 1842. A blend of wines from the vineyards of the Montagne de Reims, already known for the excellence of their Pinot Noir grapes (Ay, Verzenay, Bouzy), and from the village of Sillery, the House style was quite apparent even then.

Mumm vintage champagnes showcase the House’s finest harvests and express the exceptional aging potential of highest-quality Pinot Noir grapes.
