The Glen Elgin Distillery is situated in the heart of Speyside approximately 3 miles south of Elgin. This distillery was the last distillery to be built during the boom years of the 1890s. The architect, Charles Doig, stated it would be the last one built in Speyside for 50 years. His prediction was remarkably accurate with Tormore being the next distillery built, in 1958. The original site was chosen for its water source and close proximity to the railway line. Unfortunately the water source proved unreliable and permission for a railway siding was refused. Until the 1950s the distillery was entirely operated and lit by paraffin. All machinery was driven by a paraffin engine and a water turbine. The distillery is owned by Diageo with the spirit still being a key component of White Horse blended whisky, exported to over 200 countries worldwide.

North Star Spirits is an independent bottler based in Glasgow, Scotland. They pride themselves on bottling the finest single malt Scotch whisky, blended whisky and blended malt Scotch whisky. Producing artisan single cask whisky from various regions of Scotland as well as bottling rums, gins and Bourbon whiskey. All products are small batch, bottled at cask strength.

This single cask single malt whisky was distilled at the Glen Elgin distillery before being placed in a single ex-Oloroso Sherry Hogshead and left to mature for 15 years. In March 2022 it was bottled at 53.4% ABV as part of the North Star Cask Series Number 018.

Only 347 bottles were produced for worldwide distribution.
