Distilled at The Small Concern Distillery in Tasmania in 1996 this single malt whisky is one of the rarest finds in the whisky industry. More of a mum’s and dad’s distillery from day one this distillery was one of the first distilleries to test a new barley variety called ‘Franklin’. The distillery ran out of money very quickly and found funds after one of the team named Andrew Morrison visited Scotland and presented the spirit to independent bottlers William Cadenheads. They liked what they tasted and granted Morrison $25,000 to produce more spirit. The operation did not last long but it really goes to show that this distillery was ‘first cab off the ranks’ in regards to Australia production of whisky. The distillery was dismantled in 1997 but we still have a few gems like this that will take place in history.

This single cask whisky has been fully matured in a Cabernet Sauvignon Cask for 23 years. It was distilled at the Small Concern Distillery in 1996 and bottled in May 2019 at 53.2% abv.

This is the oldest known Australia whisky to have hit the retail market to date and will be a collectable in coming years.
