The Cambus Distillery was founded in 1806  by John Moubray who converted a disused mill in Alloa into a malt whisky distillery. The distillery sat on the banks of the River Deveron close to where it meets the River Forth and produced mainly grain whisky. In 1851 a large Coffey still was added to the distillery making it one of the largest grain distilleries Scotland. In 1914 it was destroyed by a fire which forced it to close until 1937. It was then closed again during WWII. In 1952 a gin rectification plant was installed and in 1964 Cambus became the first distillery to have a by-products plant. Cambus eventually closed in 1993 as part of the of Diageo’s £100m production reorganisation. Its plant was removed and the site transformed into a cask filling operation and warehouses. age on-site, transferring the coopering operations from nearby Carsebridge and Dundashill in Glasgow. It now adjoins the giant Blackgrange warehousing complex.

Càrn Mòr is an independent bottling label produced by the family owned and operated Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers. Morrisons own the Aberargie distillery in Perth, Scotland which is now 3 years old (January 2021). The company was originally started by an ex employee of the independent bottling company Scottish Liqueur Centre when in 2008 he gathered a group of whisky enthusiasts and began bottling and selling whisky. The Gaelic name Càrn Mòr is given to the ninth highest mountain in Scotland which sits on the Northwest Highlands. The English translation is Great Peak.

Released as part of the Celebration of the Cask range this Cambus was distilled in August  1991 and sat maturing in one ex Sherry Butt for 27 years. It was bottled by Càrn Mòr in April 2019 with only 515 bottles being produced at an abv of 60.6%.
