Ballechin is produced at the Edradour distillery. It boasts to be Scotland’s smallest distillery and not just in size but in production which also makes the whisky so unique. The distillery was founded in 1825 by local farmers and is currently owned by Signatory Vintage Scotch Whisky who purchased the distillery in 2002 from Pernod Ricard. The output from this distillery was once 600 litres per year but now it can produce up to 90,000 litres per year. The name Ballechin originates from a fellow Perthshire farm distillery, which sadly closed its doors in 1927. There, Alfred Barnard, who catalogued all the distilleries in the UK in the 1880’s, made reference to having experienced a peated whisky. Ballechin was first produced in 2003 using heavily peated barley which has a peated level of no less than 50ppm

Part of the Straight From The Cask range. This bottling was aged for 12 years in a single ex-Oloroso Sherry cask. Distilled on the 21st of October 2009 and bottled on the 1st of March 2022 from cask number 344. Only 932 bottles were produced worldwide.
