Description

Ardbeg Day 2012 Exclusive Committee Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Volume: 700ml            ABV: 56.7%           Age: No Age Statement           Country: Scotland

Owned by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy the Ardbeg Distillery has been operating since 1798. The whisky produced here was mainly used for blends and not until recently it is known for single malt.

Released in 2012 for Ardbeg Day this committee release is a fantastic whisky and some name it one of the best released by Ardbeg. This is a very limited once of release which has now found its way into the whisky collections across the world.

The whisky is a vatting of two vintages matured in ex-Bourbon casks and that were finished in refill ex-Sherry casks previously used for maturing Ardbeg Uigeadail. These were bottled at cask strength 56.7% abv.

A truly remarkable experience and one not taken lightly. This whisky was certainly a top contender in 2012 for whisky of the year and we have no idea how it missed out, o’yeh it was won by a 25 years old Japanese whisky now worth thousands of dollars!

Our Tasting Notes

Nose: Bursting with fresh smoke and lashings of fruit. Barbecues in summer, meaty, fresh, smokey and charred. Settles slightly and then delivers sweet vanilla spice.

Palate: A great experience on the palate of rich oils and delicious Sherry notes. There’s plenty of seaweed, peat and slightly menthol.

Finish: Creamy Sherry goodness which dries very nicely on the palate.
